The Fairview community recently lost the arena that was located at 8038 Fairmount Dr. SE. The City of Calgary has committed to working with the community of Fairview to provide engagement that will guide opportunities for this site and throughout their community.

This process will be focused towards short -and medium- term goals for activation, with a view to future opportunities at the site and within Fairview.

Please note, there is currently no City funding budgeted for development. Ideas gathered through this process will be retained by The City and provided to the Fairview Community Association should future opportunity for funding partnerships or community action be identified.

We will be holding a fireside chat engagement session on Nov. 27th to begin collecting and discussing what residents see as future possibilities for this location and within the community.

The site has already seen some recent activity. These changes have allowed youth and the community to begin re-imagining and using this location. These kinds of actitivities will continue on site for the foreseeable future, allowing for ongoing community use.

These maps show the community as a whole, as well as a focused view of 8038 Fairmount Dr. SE. Please note that the Indefinite Arts Centre (IAC) also holds a lease on the site – the boundaries of this lease are indicated on the third map. For this reason, visioning and planning for the site will also include input from IAC.
