About the Project

Community Strategies is reviewing the Calgary Corporate Accessibility Policy (CSPS003) and wanting to engage externally and internally starting Q1 2025 with the goal of presenting to Council in Q1 2026. Data gathered will also inform the development and implementation of a City of Calgary Accessibility Plan.

Engagement will be with persons with disabilities (physical, sensory, cognitive, and mental health) so accessible information & communications will be a priority. The Access Design Standards Update is also a component of the Accessibility Program, currently being completed by Technical Advisory Services, Public Spaces Delivery.

There is considerable collaboration between the two teams, and alignment between the separate Engage and Communications project plans. There may also be considerations resulting from the refresh of the Social Wellbeing Policy, to which the Accessibility Policy is closely connected.

This program of work will continue to 2027. There will be extensive outreach and engagement with the public, the disability sector, and City of Calgary employees.

We want to know! (pre-engagement question)

Thank you for you feedback. This question is now closed. We ask pre-engagement questions to better understand the specific needs and preferences of individuals with disabilities, ensuring that our initiatives are relevant and effective. This approach also fosters trust and encourages active participation, making the program more inclusive and impactful.
