Young people between the ages of 15-30 are an important part of Calgary’s growing population, and The City of Calgary is developing a corporate strategy to ensure it addresses the needs and opportunities of this diverse population. The development of this strategy stems from the legacy of The Calgary Youth Project with The Bloomberg Centre for Public Innovation, which utilized design thinking to brainstorm solutions for retaining youth in Calgary.

This strategy will aim to ensure that young people feel supported to thrive, participate in, and see their interests reflected in City services and decisions.

The development of the young people strategy stems from the legacy of The Calgary Youth Project with The Bloomberg Centre for Public Innovation. It’s important to develop a young people strategy because young people are a significant proportion of the city and their voices need to be included in policies that will impact their futures.

Community Strategies will be meeting with business units throughout the process of developing the strategy, to allow for continual checking that business unit feedback has been heard and integrated appropriately.
