ABOUT THE PROJECT
In September 2016, City Council
approved the funding and development of new single detached homes on eight
City-owned properties adjacent to 16 Avenue N.W. in Rosedale. The development
is expected to provide up to 16 affordable homes for Calgarians. The design-build
team has been selected, and we are now entering the design phase of the
project. For additional information see the project page.
PROVIDE YOUR INPUT
We invite you to provide input into the design process and share ideas directly with the design-build team by participating in one of two community sessions or in online engagement below. Information regarding the in-person sessions can be found in Key Dates to the right.
Please click on each tab below to see images and answer questions about built form, home configurations and street edge (front) in Rosedale and on the subject streets.
Street Edge (Front)
The first discussion centres around the street and what kind of street you live on. The drawings provided show the various elements that go into the creation of a street and help to contribute to the character of a street. Items like mature trees, the width of sidewalks, and how far the homes are from the street all help to define what the street is like.
Following the first discussion, we now look at the buildings along the street. The type of homes that border the street greatly influence the character of a community. We now ask that you tell us what kind of homes define your street, what are the key characteristics of the buildings that contribute to that character.
We would now like to illustrate two strategies for the new homes to be located on the project sites. A linear option shows how the homes could be located side by side on the sites, providing a longer and lower building solution. The stacked option illustrates a version where one home is located above the other, providing a two storey option.
Feedback collected at the design session and online will be compiled to produce a What We Heard Report. This report will be shared with the public here and at calgary.ca/rosedale by March 2018.
