ABOUT THE PROJECT
The City of Calgary is building new and improved Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) routes that will shape the way the broader transit network operates. As part of this project, Calgary Transit is reviewing dozens of existing bus routes to develop a more effective and efficient bus network in Calgary.
The goal of this review is to implement a revised bus network linking into the following new BRT routes:
- 17 Avenue S.E. BRT
- North Crosstown BRT
- South Crosstown BRT
The existing bus network is being revised based on the following objectives:
- Make efficient use of the BRT infrastructure (e.g. stations, queue jumps, separate lanes)
- Provide routes that are more direct and easier to understand
- Reduce travel time
- Operate more frequently with a longer span of service on some routes (e.g. start earlier, end later)
- Provide better service to key destinations
- Reduce duplication of service
- Increase ridership
We will be collecting stakeholder and citizen feedback online and at open houses throughout the city. We will report back in the early summer 2018.
DESIGNING THE TRANSIT NETWORK
NEW REGIONAL ROUTE MAPS
PROVIDE YOUR INPUT
The 2018 service review project is seeking community and stakeholder input on draft (proposed) routes that will link into the BRT bus network. The purpose of the engagement is to gather input from stakeholders and community members in the specified area to hear about:
- what you like about the proposed routes
- issues or concerns related to the proposed routes
- new information that Calgary Transit may not have considered in drafting routes and CTrain connections.
This engagement will help Calgary Transit plan efficient bus routes that link to the new BRT routes and best serve Calgary Transit customers. We need to understand community transit needs in the service areas so routes are efficient and get transit riders where they need to go.
To provide input:
1. View New Regional Route Maps to find the routes that you are most interested in.
2. Find your route map under the changed route or new route tab above.
3. Click on the route you would like to comment on to view the route map and provide feedback.
4. You may comment on as many of the routes as you would like.
Online engagement runs from April 16 to May 18, 2018.

NEXT STEPS
Following the in-person and online engagement in April and May, a summary in the form of a What We Hear report will be available. The report will highlight where community and stakeholder input was used to update the proposed routes and if input was not implemented we will explain why.
