Apply for the Riley Communities Local Area Planning Working Group and Heritage Sub-group
We need you!
Are you passionate about helping shape your community for you and future generations? Are you interested in working with fellow citizens, community association members, local builders/developers and city planners to discuss growth and change in the Riley Communities?
Apply to join the Riley Communities Local Area Planning Working Group.
The working group will include people from a range of backgrounds who provide feedback, consider input provided by the broader community, and discuss concepts and ideas with city planners as the local area plan is created.
As a member of the Working Group you will participate in dialogue of the broader planning interests of the entire area, bring different perspectives and viewpoints to the table and act as sounding board for The City as we develop a new policy plan for the area.
The working group will participate in 7 – 8 focused workshops over approximately 2 years.
We’re looking for a broad range of people to join the working group, including:
◾Local residents including long-term or new homeowners and renters (balance of youth, young professionals, families, singles and seniors).
◾People who work in the area.
◾People who own property in the area.
◾Local business owners.
◾Members from the development industry.
◾Community users (from a recreation or customer perspective).
◾Education, Faith, Environmental, Cultural or Advocacy group members in the area.
In addition to the Working Group, a Riley Heritage Guidelines Sub-group (‘Heritage Sub-group’) will be established as part of the planning and engagement program. The purpose of the Heritage Sub-group is to establish Heritage Guidelines in portions of the plan area that have concentrations of Heritage assets, commonly referred to as character homes. Concentrations of heritage assets have been identified in the communities of Hillhurst and Sunnyside. As such, the Heritage Sub-group community association and resident representation is only to include those from communities with identified heritage asset groupings.
The Riley Communities LAP Working Group Terms of Refence provides additional detail about the Working Group and commitment.
