ABOUT THE PROJECT

On June 30, 2016, Calgary Housing Company became the new owner of East Village Place (750 Fifth St. S.E.).

East Village Place refers to both the 163 apartments and the approximate 23,000 square feet of community space on the first two floors.

The intent of the Calgary Housing Company and The City of Calgary is to develop the first two floors of the building for community use. As part of the plan’s development, The City would like to collaborate with local residents to hear their ideas on how they’d like to see that space used.

NEXT STEPS

Your input, along with other criteria (e.g., financial feasibility), will become the basis for evaluating the Request for Interests and Request for Proposals.

A Request for Interest (RFI) is a process where Calgary Housing Company invites interested organizations to outline how they would like to use the space to meet the community’s needs. This process is done to gauge interest and is non-binding.

Following the RFI process, a second process called a Request for Proposals (RFP) will begin. Request for Proposals is an application process where Calgary Housing Company will be accepting proposals from interested organizations. This step accepts creative input from interested organizations and results in awarding an RFP to a successful application(s).

In July 2017, Carya Society of Calgary signed a letter of intent to develop a community space on the first two floors of East Village Place. For more information please see the East Village Place Community Space project page.
